Codfish, Dogfish, Mermaids and Frank is the true story of the relationship between a young man, Skip DeBrusk, and his mentor, set on the fishing grounds and ports of Massachusetts starting in the summer of 1951.
Captain Frank Savery, an ex-prisoner of the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Alcatraz was an unusual mentor who passed on his natural gifts of curiosity, leadership and the value of education. He also passed on the value of hard work, risk and rewards, all as the Captain of the J.L. Stanley and Sons, a commercial fishing boat based in Plymouth.

This is also a story rich in the history of the area, and of a by-gone era when fish were plentiful and our way of life was simpler.

Added bonus! This book includes a CD. Listen to Eddie Fairweather, a member of the crew of the J.L. Stanley and Sons, talk today about some hilarious experiences, along with his many brushes with death. Hear Frank's son Winsor talk about his dad and related stories of an Oscar winning movie and Vice-President Nixon.

It is said that truth is stranger than fiction, as you will see through this story of Skip, Frank, and the crew of the Stanley.
